Additional Programme
To complement the feature-length and short film programme of the Brugger Dokumentarfilmtage, there are further exciting highlights to discover outside the three main venues.
As part of the film festival, the Zimmermannhaus is showing two films by the artists currently exhibiting. In the exhibition ‘OFF THE WALL’, created in cooperation with the Metron planning office in Brugg, Rebecca Kunz (*1986) and Caroline Hepting as well as Andy Storchenegger (*1980) create a spatial scenario in which they integrate or appropriate works from the Metron art collection.
In the festival center the short documentary ‘Quelques siècles de plus’ (Few more centuries) by Raphaël Martin-Dumazer (*2000) will be screened in the ODEON Foyer. A graduate of ENS Louis-Lumière (Paris, France), Raphaël is pursuing a PhD on the analog-to-digital transition in cinema, building on a Master’s thesis on the same topic. Alongside his research, he develops his work as a director and cinematographer.
‘Quelques siècles de plus’ follows the restoration of a 1920s film from its original 35mm color print. Shot in 35mm, the documentary reveals the technical and human steps of the restoration process, across iconic cinema locations in France, from the CNC to the Joinville-le-Pont laboratory, and finally to the Cinémathèque Française. In the background, the film raises questions about the future of works preserved solely in digital format.
